We all know those people…perhaps we are that person ourselves. You know the type. They live for game day. Even when watching at home, they put on their jerseys, paint their faces, and wave their foam fingers. Shouldn’t a fan as dedicated as that have a fitting place in which to enjoy the big game?
Let’s start by taking a look at the walls. With this room, now is not the time to go bland or typical. Two tone color patterns work the best. Why not make the walls over in the team colors. You could have the room painted in alternating wide stripes, or put the top half in one color, and the bottom half in another color, with chair rail separating them. Once this is done, hang pictures or framed posters reflecting their favorite team or players. Perhaps you want to go all out and have a mural of the stadium on one wall. Finish the walls by putting team banners around the top of the wall like you would a wallpaper border.
Now take a look at the floor. You have many options. One thing to consider is standard carpet, although this can get stained and doesn’t really catch attention. If stains are a concern, hardwood or bamboo flooring also works very well. For attention getting, how about tile in alternating colors which also matches your team colors? Or if you really want to be the talk of the neighborhood, what about a grass colored carpet which looks like the stadium, including the yardage markers?
Of course, no game room would be complete without a wide screen television on the wall. Hang it on the wall in a way that optimizes viewing for all of your guests, if possible.
Round out your room with furniture in the team colors. Perhaps a couple of themed recliners or bar stools with seats upholstered in the team colors. Maybe even some stadium seating or a miniature bleacher on one wall. This is the fan’s game room, and nothing is over the top. This is their refuge, and a place where anything team related goes.
This can become a fun room, and will make you the envy of your friends.
